THAI MEDICAL MASSAGE
As a way to deepen my knowledge of the anatomy, I turned towards therapeutic practices and was drawn to the healing art of Thai yoga massage for its Eastern mindset of looking beyond the physical body.
Thai Medical Massage combines the wisdom of Yoga from India, Acupressure from China and incorporates the theory, that injury or disease causes blockages in the channels of the body. My work is influenced by the Wat Po Bangkok, Mudita London, Hadadi Manchester, Sunshine and ITM schools in Chiang Mai and from many more masters, who I continue re-visiting each year in Thailand.
As an advanced practitioner in Thai Medical Massage, I work with the whole body in an approach that is soft, slow and deeply impactful. This is neither a Thai Massage, nor a Deep Tissue Massage, but rather the treatment itself combines yoga postures, massage, and body realignment through a fluid series of stretches, presses and twists.
Thai Medical Massage is helpful in preventing the atrophy (wasting away) of muscles in paralyzed patients and elderly people who are unable to exercise.
I include the following in my treatments based on your needs:
Thai Acupressure, treat many of the most common orthopedic pathologies that can be treated by a manual therapeutic method, like soft tissue ailments such as muscular hypertonicity and myofascial trigger points, muscular weakness, muscle strains, tendinous disorders, ligament sprains, osteoarthritis, neuro-vascular entrapments and neural tensions. ( E.g.: chronic back pain, tennis elbow, sprained ankle, hip injuries, knee pain and many more…)
Touch Therapy Techniques – for treating people dealing with cancer or any other illnesses. These techniques apply to the oncological environment treating various side effects, trauma, pain management, lack of sleep, neuropathy, etc. Even though these techniques are deeply rooted in traditional Thai Massage & Thai Acupressure, I use the fascinating and intriguing opportunities that present themselves when these traditions interact with the more modern methods of Shiatsu and Fasial Manipulation.
Deep Lymphatic Drainage – The lymphatic system the most powerful system in the body, it is connected to the brain and the brain can’t function optimally when the lymph is dysfunctional. This could be the reason that we are feeling hopeless, tired, fatigued, have poor concentration and overwhelmed with lack of progress in our recovery. If you have a chronic pain or illness like Lyme, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, IBS, Crohn’s Disease, etc., this is when I check your Lymph.
Sound therapy – Sound healing is the use of specific instruments (like Tibetian Bowls), tones, and other sonic vibrations to balance and heal the body, mind, and spirit. It involves using specialized sound frequencies around and on specific body parts of the patient. This has been used throughout history in Tibetan and Himalayan cultures, to create a therapeutic atmosphere to promote deep rest, nervous system rebalancing and emotional release. Many people also find, that after the treatment, they experience an increase in energy, improved mental clarity and encourages well-being.
Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy along with Lifestyle Coaching –it represents the whole system of health care which promotes the body’s own self-healing mechanism. This includes natural therapies such as nutrition, herbal medicine, supplementation, acupressure, homeopathy, physical manipulations, fasting, exercise and other modalities, in accordance with naturopathic principles. In terms of the nutrition element, there is a particular emphasis on the use of whole and organic foods and using differential diagnostic tools (like Blood Results) to ascertain the health of an individual such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. I consider each person to be unique and recommend personalised programs rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I look at the whole person not the condition in isolation.
Craniosacral therapy with myofascial pain release techniques – to help heal both the physical and emotional body. The most important healing comes from within ourselves. I connect myself with forces of the universe and become a channel for these forces. My hands are applied with tenderness of mother touching her child. Once the center of the body at the navel is freed and body detoxified, healing can be completed by your own discipline.
Reiki Usui – breaks down energy blocks and balances the mind, body, and spirit. Regular reiki treatment promotes the consistent and unlocked flow of energy throughout the body. This allows people to feel less stress, enhances learning and memory, promotes mental clarity, and physical healing/ less physical pain.
